Tandem Tellers

Storytellers
Ann-Marie Forer and Cindy Killavey

Together this talented team form “Take Two” tandem storytellers. With twice the talent, musical ability and experience they combine to bring a new level of fun and excitement to audiences everywhere. Their collaboration began several years ago when they decided to produce a cable television show that would appeal to children. “Kid Stuff” has won numerous awards as “Best Educational” and “Best Children’s” programming. They sang together and told stories on the show and this led to telling tandem tales, where two storytellers tell the story together.  They have performed together at fairs, first nights and festivals.

Anne-Marie Forer plays a variety of instruments including fiddle, guitar and banjo. She is a registered Music Together® teacher.  Her performance of songs, stories, and rhythm instrument play captivates the children lucky enough to hear her. Anne-Marie skillfully integrates moments of quiet listening with enthusiastic participation. She draws on her extensive experience as a teacher, children’s librarian, storyteller and musician to develop each program.

Additionally, Anne-Marie also teaches storytelling skills, using her experience & repertoire to help older children become tellers too.

Cindy Killavey plays kazoo and sings “like an angel”. An award-winning storyteller, an author and audio-book reader, she has delighted audiences of all ages from Toronto to Texas. The Los Angeles Times called her “the best reason to put great books in the end of great readers and get out of the way” Her background in theater and music add that special touch to programs for young and old.  Cindy is a co-founder of the Portsmouth Community Theater and Rhode Island Storytellers in Concert, Inc.
